Building Microgrids

Buildings in urban and suburban areas can adopt rooftop solar and energy battery arrays, creating a micro-grid on, in, and around the building. EPO Tokens are an ideal transactive energy monetary solution for micro-grids. As energy is harvested from the sun (or wind, or geothermal) and stored, it can be counted, and EPO Tokens can represent that stored value. Often the battery arrays are shared among the building’s occupants. And when the energy is consumed, EPO Tokens are transferred from the energy users to the owner(s) of the shared battery system. In addition, EV Charging can be included in the energy mix, also using EPO Tokens.
